BRENDAN GOCO | Random Cliques

What to make out of our uneasy compulsion to react instantaneously? Risking failure over brilliance and vice versa. Yet then again, it is always because of the need to capture that which will only be lost in an instant. The way a heartbeat skips its pre-destined path. Sometimes, reflection poses itself as a luxury not many can afford. A figure lurking amidst our brilliant and weakest emotions. And still these vulnerable moments which memory has betrayed bear witness to time and period in history most often unnoticed, if not forgotten. Brendan Goco bares it all with faithful documentation of these sinister nights. As if to remind us that indeed time has passed, as he shares with us snapshots of artists, people, talkers and hangers-on that complete such Random Cliques. In this rare occasion beyond the pages of Multiply, Facebook and Flicker he tells the story of our faces, acts and random broken realities.

OCT15 DIEGO MARANAN + BRENDAN GOCO Random Cliques + Fete de la Wasaque

There is such a thing called constructive mopping. Then the can of worms have been opened. Not necessarily bad. As we persistently defy those mid-week blues, we invite you to come out again to play this Wednesday at Green Papaya as this week's line-up get heftier than usual.

Diego Maranan makes his workspace public at Green Papaya allowing scrutiny to his library of about 80 books on art, technology, performance and sociology (plus a selection of books from childhood!) Everyone is welcome to poke and snoop around. Book worms, you know who you are!
Meanwhile, the persistent night owl comes out with a long due peek into tons of flicker prints that Brendan Goco has amassed throughout the years with Random Cliques which opens earlier in the evening. For those who want to catch a glimpse of your own selves, this is the time.
And because we know that this is not enough SABAW MEDIA ART KITCHEN caps off their quick but nasty Fete dela Wasaque Festival of Experimental Music and Video with E.X.I.S.T-Inconnuictu, Ugong, Blend:er, Elemento, Blums Borres, Tad Ermitaño, Tengal and Justice Yeldman.

JO HOLDER drinks - the UNOFFICIAL RECEPTION

Green Papaya welcomes Jo Holder to the local community the traditional way, with beer and isaw sans balut. Jo Holder is founder and director of The Cross Art Projects in Sydney. The Cross Art Project promotes contemporary art and curatorial practices that cross establishment grids and enable small-scale investigations. It works to the trope of crossing: artistic currents, disciplines, art and public issues and local affairs. She was responsible for the selection of Poklong Anading to The Cross Art Projects Residency through Ateneo Art Awards in 2006.

w.o.p OCTOBER 8 DIEGO MARANAN | The Visible, Invisible

Diego Maranan continues with his W.O.P residency The Visible, Invisible with the screening of The Corporation, winner of 26 international awards including the 2004 Sundance FIlm Festival ..."Taking its status as a 'legal person' to logical conclusion, the film puts the corporation on the psychiatrists couch to ask, 'What kind of person is it?' The corporation includes interviews with 40 corporate insiders and critics – including Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, Molton Freidman, Howard Sinn, Vandana Shiva and Micheal Moore – plus true confession case studies and strategies for change.

PAPAYA MAGAZINE 01 out now!!!

This one's been out for sometime but we've been quite lax with promotions. There are still a number of copies that need to be sent out. For those of you who still haven't got your copies, you can visit us at Green Papaya Art Projects or grab them at Vintage Pop and I Love You Store in Cubao. Papaya Magazine maps out Independent Art and Culture in Manila, a long overdue tribute to our beloved city–the initiatives, people and artists that make Manila rock. We are now working on the second issue and welcome contributions.
