“At times there are bursts of pure, liquid dance, at others performers are grabbing handfuls of skin and carrying each other around. If you are ever lucky enough to see these
Körper, you might want to pinch yourself at the end and check that you’re still there.”

Handcuffed to the silent muse
, roaming like an incessant fruit fly bidding off the cool and gentle holiday breeze. And as if we really do notice, but the the holidays are back again. Jet lag dodging, those sleepless nights meet its match etched in the shadows of extended afternoon naps. In a few days, devilish summer heat strikes us as the nation zombie into lent. But what the heck, we have three more days to party before Thursday. So come and be wasted, there is always time to repent afterwards!
After much needed break from love
, we come back with the screening of Sasha Waltz's Körper (Body, 2000). A key work of Sasha Waltz, who along with Pina Bausch is one of the most important German choreographers. A 12 meter high wall, fourteen half naked dancers tumble on the stage, their bodies literally entangling, engulfing each other, stiffening like hypnosis. In a survey concerning morality, the quest for immortality and reproduction in the age of manipulation, Sasha Waltz presents the inner and outer shell of the human body. What is the body? How is it made? In this first trilogy of her 'body' series, Sasha Waltz examines the relationships and anatomy of bodies in space and history.
The film K๖rper is a produced by Sasha Waltz & Guests
, nachtaktivfilm in collaboration with 3sat/ZDF with Goethe Institut. Screening of this film has been made possible through the generosity of Sasha Waltz's and Guests director Jochen Sandig. For more information on Sasha Waltz & Guests and the work they do http://www.sashawaltz.de
