Gaston Damag, renown Philippine-born and Paris-based installation artist noted for using ethnographic symbols of his material culture in the Cordillera region in Northern Philippines to create contemporary work of art, returns to Manila after an absence of four years for an exhibition of new drawings and video done in Paris. Damag earned his Dipl๔me national d’expression plastique from Ecole nationale sup้rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, took up Civilisation francaise from Facult้ de la Sorbonne, Paris, and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines. He recently participated in major exhibitions like the Thessaloniki Biennale: 1 of Contemporary Art in Greece, and Liste 07: The Young Art Fair-Basel in Germany, in 2007, My Home is my Castle, Exposition de sculpture contemporaine, Dexia Banque Internationale เ Luxembourg, Luxembourg in 2006 and had a two-person exhibition Miserable intentions with Manuel Ocampo in 2005 at Galerie des Grands Bains Douches de la Plaine, Marseille, France.
